WasteWater Treatment Plant

7530 Manlius Center Road
Kirkville, NY 13082

In 1963, the State of New York financed three area studies to investigate sewage systems and pollution levels in Onondaga County. One study focused on Limestone Creek, revealing severe pollution that was classified as “critical.” In response, Onondaga County established a new sewer district at Meadow Brook on Butternut Creek and acquired an existing treatment plant for temporary use while planning for a new facility. The Meadowbrook-Limestone Wastewater Treatment Plant, completed in 1973, addressed the pollution issues, improving water quality in Limestone Creek.

The Meadowbrook-Limestone Wastewater Treatment Plant serves sections of DeWitt, Manlius, Pompey, and Syracuse, managing wastewater for both residential and commercial customers.

The State Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (SPDES) permit for Meadowbrook-Limestone has been extended under the provisions of the State Administrative Procedure Act (SAPA).
