The mission of the Personnel Department is to provide a full range of human resource management services for municipal employers, employees and residents of Onondaga County.
The activities involved in this mission are those of recruitment, needs assessment, salary and fringe benefits, employee relations, Affirmative Action/Equal Employment Opportunity (AA/EEO), training/staff development, separation/terminations, performance assessment, and information management.
The Personnel Department, as the local civil service agency, conducts civil service examinations, establishes and maintains eligible lists, classifies positions, reviews and approves appointments and personnel changes, maintains employee roster records, certifies municipal payrolls, advises and counsels appointing authorities for all local government entities.
