The Office of Administration Hearings (OAH): Contact OAH directly for all fair hearing matters – including requesting, rescheduling, or cancelling a hearing, submitting evidence, and checking the status of your hearing or decision.

The OAH’s Fair Hearings Unit’s hours are from 8:00am – 4:00pm. To schedule a hearing or check the status of a decision, you must contact the New York State Office of Administrative Hearings. You may contact them in the following ways:

The Fair Hearings Unit represents the Department in administrative hearings. The Onondaga County’s Fair Hearings Unit’s hours are from 8:00am – 4:00pm.

If you would like to request documentation to prepare for a hearing you have already requested, you may contact the Onondaga County DSS-ES Fair Hearings Unit in the following ways, but for all other hearing needs including but not limited to requests and scheduling inquiries, you must contact the Office of Administrative hearings as directed above:

Case Conference: To review your case, call (315) 435 – 2700 and follow the prompts for your program area; you may request a case conference at any time, even if a fair hearing has already been requested.

Important: The DSS Fair Hearings unit does not schedule, reschedule, cancel, or provide status updates for hearings. For these requests, you must contact the Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH). DSS staff can only assist with obtaining your evidence packet or general information to help you prepare.
