Welcome!  The Onondaga County Department of Emergency Communications / 911 Center is one of the largest, accredited 911 centers in NY State.  We are proud to serve our community and first responders with calltaking and dispatch services to nearly half a million people and ~100 public safety agencies.

We encourage you to learn more about our mission statement and get answers to your frequently asked questions. You can also become familiar with how to report a firecrime, or medical emergency.

We have a team that engages regularly with the community, both for recruitment and education purposes.  If you are interested in 911 coming to your school or next event, please reach out to us at e9-recruitment@ongov.net.

Be safe and be well,

Julie K. Corn

PUBLIC NOTICE

The Onondaga County Department of Emergency Communications is preparing for an on-site review to maintain its accreditation through the International Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). The assessment begins Monday November 18th. During this time, an assessor from CALEA will review the department’s operations, policies, and practices to determine if the department should be reaccredited for four more years.

The Onondaga County Department of Emergency Communications was first accredited by CALEA in 2002, this on-site review will mark our seventh reaccreditation. Voluntary compliance with the Commission’s comprehensive state-of-the-art standards demonstrates our continued commitment to excellence.

As part of the review process, the public is invited to share their comments with CALEA. Comments must address the department’s ability to comply with CALEA standards. Comments can be submitted in writing by mail or submitted online through the Department of Emergency Communications CALEA Public Comment Portal link. Letters should be mailed to the Commission at 13575 Heathcote Blvd., Suite 320, Gainesville, VA 20155. The CALEA Public Comment Portal Link can also be found on our website.
