The Recreational Facilities program provides services in the following areas:

Public swimming pool and bathing beach inspection:

• Investigates near drowning and drowning incidents
• Tanning facilities inspection
• Campground inspection
• Investigates consumer complaints at regulated recreational facilities

Design and Approval of Swimming Pools and Bathing Beaches

The Bureau of Public Health Engineering provides engineering services in the following areas:

• Plan review and approval – water source, treatment, distribution, and storage; public sewers; individual sewage disposal systems; realty subdivisions; and public swimming pools
• Site investigation and inspections
• Coordinates closely with the Plumbing Control Section of Onondaga County’s Department of Water Environment Protection and local code enforcement officials
