Onondaga County Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Business (SDVOB) Certification Program

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion, in collaboration with the Veterans Service Agency, is pleased to announce the establishment of the Onondaga County Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Business (SDVOB) Certification Program. This initiative is designed to enhance opportunities for service-disabled veteran-owned businesses, facilitate access to government contracts, and support the growth and sustainability of such businesses through our One Stop Program. The Office of Diversity and Inclusion remains steadfast in its commitment to promoting inclusivity, providing robust support, and fostering innovation in the pursuit of opportunities for our workforce and community.

To be eligible to be certified as a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Business with Onondaga County, you must meet the following requirements:

  • The business must be independently owned and operated, have no more than 300 employees, have a significant presence in Onondaga County, and be authorized to do business in New York State.
  • One or more service-disabled veterans, with a service-connected disability rating of 10% or more from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, must own at least 51% of the business.
  • Service-disabled veteran ownership must be real, substantial, and continuing.
  • The eligible service-disabled veteran owner(s) must have (and exercise) authority to control the day-to-day business decisions independently.
  • The business must qualify as a small business under the Small Business Administration (SBA).

Onondaga County Fast Track SDVOB Certification Program

Are you a New York State Certified SDVOB?

If you respond affirmatively, you may proceed with the Onondaga County Fast Track Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Business (SDVOB) Certification process. This process is designed to be efficient and straightforward.

To initiate, please provide a copy of your New York State SDVOB Certification, and we will promptly verify its validity. Upon successful verification, we will certify you as an Onondaga County SDVOB for the remaining duration of your New York State SDVOB certification, provided that a minimum of two years is still valid.

Once you renew your New York State SDVOB Certification status, simply provide us with a copy, and we will then issue you an Onondaga County SDVOB certification for the full five (5) years.
