Legislature Chairwoman Expands Housing + Transportation Engagement Sessions into Neighborhoods

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — County Legislature Chairwoman, Nicole Watts, announced a series of six upcoming Housing + Transportation Engagement Sessions to engage residents in housing and transportation needs. The series follows the Municipal Housing Summit, the first event of the Legislature’s newly established Housing + Transportation Citizens Advisory Board (CAB).

“We heard from representatives and elected leaders from nearly every part of this county. Now we’re looking forward to hearing from our renters, homeowners, young people, and businesses,” said Chairwoman Watts. “We use these everyday spaces differently and need to design solutions that serve all people.”

The Housing + Transportation CAB and associated task forces will make recommendations and provide advice to the Planning and Economic Development Committee of the Legislature. The recommendations will focus on current and future housing needs aimed at aligning housing policy, transportation planning, infrastructure investments, and mobility needs.

The upcoming workshops are designed to engage participants in small groups and present them with scenario-based prompts and solutions to work through.
