School Bus Safety Program

Together, We Can Ensure That Every School Bus Ride is Safe

Every day, thousands of children across Onondaga County begin and end their school day with a trip on a school bus. Every student should feel safe getting to and from school.

It is illegal and hazardous for a vehicle to pass a stopped school bus. Unfortunately, when drivers disregard the law, they jeopardize the safety and lives of our community’s children.

Know the law, slow down and stop for school buses.

To Address This Growing Issue

Onondaga County has implemented a school bus safety program that equips over 500 school bus stop-arm safety cameras on the county’s school buses to keep children safe as they get to and from school. The program aims to improve the safety and transportation of students riding school buses, to reduce violations, collisions and injuries so that our streets remain safe for all.
