County Executive Ryan McMahon Joins Members of the County Legislature and County DOT to Open New Highway Facility
Camillus Highway Facility was completed under budget
SYRACUSE, NY – County Executive Ryan McMahon joined today his partners in the County Legislature as well as members of the Onondaga County Department of Transportation (DOT) to unveil the new Camillus Highway Maintenance Facility.
The project included a comprehensive redesign of the site and existing facilities as well as adaptive reuse of existing building structural components. Site operations have now been placed under one roofincreasing efficiencies and field response time.
County Executive McMahon said, “Onondaga County has a strong track record of investing in our infrastructure. We pride ourselves on making good infrastructure better. This project is another example of the commitment my administration made to invest in our infrastructure both below and above the ground.” McMahon continued, “Thank you to our partners in the County Legislature for also sharing our commitment to investing in our infrastructure and to County DOT for a job well done.”
Dave Knapp, Chairman of the Onondaga County Legislature said, “My colleagues in the County Legislature and I take very seriously our responsibility when it comes to spending taxpayer dollars. The completion of this project under budget is welcomed news for the taxpayers and a testament to those who worked on this project.”
A critical cost savings in the project was the expansion of an onsite salt storage from 2,000 tons to 5,400 tons. This element of the project was self-performed by County DOT saving taxpayers hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars.

The Facilities committee will continue to work in partnership with County departments and the County Executive to make smart, responsible investments in our County infrastructure.”
