Gilbane Building Company Receives Two Awards for Lakeview Amphitheater Project
Engineering News Record New York has announced their “Best Projects 2016” award winners
and Gilbane Building Company was honored twice for the Lakeview Amphitheater. Gilbane
won awards in the categories of Government/Public projects and Excellence in Safety.
“Our enjoyment of the Lakeview Amphitheater this summer is due to the incredible job Gilbane
did building it last summer,” said Onondaga County Executive Joanie Mahoney. “They met an
aggressive timetable to complete the project while placing a strong emphasis on safety. We
appreciate their effort and congratulate them on the well-deserved recognition.”
According to ENR New York, judges from across the industry evaluated projects based on: the
ability of the project team to overcome challenges, contribution to the industry and
community, safety and construction and design quality.
“I would like to thank the County for their leadership on the unique and innovative Onondaga
Lakeview Amphitheater project. The design-build project maximized public investment and
leveraged the local minority and women-owned workforce to increase collaboration and
community engagement. The additional safety award is testament to the meticulous planning,
training, and reporting that the team implemented to ensure no lost time injuries.“ said William
Gilbane III.
