BIOGRAPHY

Legislator Chad M. Ryan represents the 8th District in the Onondaga County Legislature. A lifelong Syracuse-area resident, he is a graduate of Corcoran High School and SUNY Canton, where he studied Funeral Service and Mortuary Science. He is the co-owner and operator of Edward J. Ryan & Son Funeral Home, a family-owned business that has served Central New York residents for generations.

Before joining the County Legislature, Legislator Ryan served on the Syracuse Common Council, where he worked on issues affecting neighborhoods, public services, and local families. His experience in public service and small business has shaped his focus on practical solutions, transparency in government, and improving quality of life for county residents.

Legislator Ryan currently serves as Chair of the Facilities Committee, where he has advocated for public accountability and clear communication regarding major county projects and investments. He is also on the Public Safety committee.

Legislator Ryan believes residents deserve an open and responsive government that delivers results and uses taxpayer resources responsibly.

Legislative priorities include:

• Expanding affordable and workforce housing opportunities

• Preparing Central New York’s workforce for Micron-related growth through apprenticeship and training programs

• Strengthening transparency and oversight of county contracts and capital projects

• Investing in county departments and services that support children, families, and residents in need
