BIOGRAPHY

Legislator Elaine Denton represents the 10th District in the Onondaga County Legislature, covering the Town of Manlius, the Village of Fayetteville, and the Village of Minoa. She grew up on a dairy farm in West Winfield that her family has owned for eight generations, and she moved to Manlius 15 years ago to be closer to family.

Legislator Denton graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology and now works as a freelance graphic designer. She and her husband Matthew are raising three children, Caprice, Lionel, and August, along with a flock of chickens.

Before running for county office, Legislator Denton worked as a community organizer with the CNY Solidarity Coalition and was elected to the Manlius Town Board in 2019, where she pushed for better pedestrian safety and walkway improvements. In November 2025, she was elected to the County Legislature, unseating the district’s incumbent.

Legislator Denton says fiscal oversight is central to her work: she wants residents to see clearly where their tax dollars go and to make sure the county keeps its promises. She’s also focused on protecting green spaces and waterways, preparing infrastructure for extreme weather, and investing in walkable communities.

In the Legislature, Legislator Denton chairs the Planning & Economic Development Committee and serves as a member of the Health & Human Services and Ways and Means Committees.

Legislative priorities include:

• Increasing transparency and fiscal oversight of county spending

• Expanding access to affordable housing and mental health services

• Protecting green spaces and waterways while preparing infrastructure for extreme weather

• Reducing poverty and strengthening support services for families
