BIOGRAPHY
Legislator Dan Romeo represents the 7th District in the Onondaga County Legislature, which covers parts of the City of Syracuse’s North Side and Eastwood neighborhoods, the Village of East Syracuse, and a large portion of the Town of DeWitt. A lifelong Syracuse resident, Legislator Romeo grew up in Eastwood and attended Bishop Grimes Junior/Senior High School before earning his bachelor’s degree in Management from Syracuse University.
For over a decade, Legislator Romeo has worked as a firefighter with the Syracuse Fire Department and the East Syracuse Fire Department. His path into public service started at Syracuse City School District Board of Education meetings, where he later served for several years as a Commissioner of Education.
Legislator Romeo says his top priority in office is moving the community forward through legislation, partnerships, and fiscal responsibility. He’s committed to working across party lines to get things done for Onondaga County, and brings a millennial’s perspective to the Legislature, working to build strong relationships with colleagues of all parties.
In the Legislature, Legislator Romeo chairs the Health & Human Services Committee and serves as a member of the Ways & Means Committee.
Legislative priorities include:
• Expanding access to quality, affordable housing across the county
• Promoting smart, dense development that fights sprawl as Micron and other projects grow
• Improving public transportation, including Bus Rapid Transit, inside and outside the city
• Fighting Syracuse’s lead poisoning crisis by removing barriers to lead remediation funding
