Public Hearing of the Planning & Economic Development Committee on Shaping the Future of Economic Development on Schools and Communities 
May 27, 2026, 4:30 p.m. – June 2, 2026, 12:55 p.m. 

Members Present: Ms. Denton, Mr. Eriksen, Mr. Knapp, Mr. Meaker, Mr. Brown 

Chairwoman Denton called the 4:30 p.m. public hearing to order at 4:34 p.m., and stated that pursuant to Resolution No. 55-2026, adopted by the Onondaga County Legislature on April 7, 2026, authorizing standing committees to conduct public hearings on matters within the purview and jurisdiction of the committee, she was duly authorized to call this public hearing to order.  

The Deputy Clerk confirmed that the notice had been duly published. 

Chairwoman Denton asked for speakers wishing to be heard and proceeded to call upon registered speakers in order:  

  1. Mitch Latimer, Constituent  
  2. Indu Gupta, Town of DeWitt Counselor  (Statement Attached)
  3. Ed Schmit, Town of Lysander Counselor 
  4. Kevin Schwab, Senior Vice President of Strategy, Policy and Planning at CenterState CEO 
  5. Suzanne Slack, Assistant Superintendent for Administration OCM BOCES 
  6. Josh Ludden, North Syracuse Central School District School Board Member  
  7. Donna Desiotto, Superintendent of East Syracuse-Minoa School District  
  8. David Shaw, Constituent  

A motion was made by Mr. Meaker, seconded by Mr. Brown, to keep the public hearing open, to be reconvened at 12:55 p.m. on June 2, 2026. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.

Chairwoman Denton called the public hearing back to order at 12:59 p.m. on June 2nd, 2026.  

Members Present: Ms. Denton, Mr. Eriksen, Mr. Knapp, Mr. Meaker, Mr. Brown 

Chairwoman Denton asked for speakers wishing to be heard. Hearing none, the public hearing was adjourned at 12:59 p.m. 

A motion was made by Mr. Knapp, seconded by Mr. Eriksen; MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
