The 55th Annual D.A. Luncheon
The District Attorney’s Advisory Council hosted the annual D.A. luncheon on April 28th at the OnCenter in downtown Syracuse.
The two-hour event began with a performance of the national anthem as well as a prayer from Reverend Lateef Johnson-Kinsey, director of the Mayor’s Office to Reduce Gun Violence.
After a bit of time for all in attendance to enjoy a meal, Carol Marsh, D.A.A.C. president, addressed those in attendance. D.A. Fitzpatrick welcomed guests and delivered his State of the District Attorney’s Office. The District Attorney emphasized that due to the efforts of his office and local law enforcement agencies, violent crime in all categories is at a historically low level in Onondaga County.
Following his address, a number of awards were given to individuals who demonstrated exemplary service to their community.
• Deputy Chief James Farewell of the Syracuse Fire Department and Officer Christopher Mazzotti of the Syracuse Police Department were both honored with the Law Enforcement Medal of Gallantry Award.
• Senior Investigator Eric Costello of the New York State Police was honored with the Distinguished Service Award.
• Thomas Ristoff of the Syracuse City School District was honored with the Community Service Award.
• Evan Grenier, Director of Operations for the North Area Volunteer Ambulance Corps., was honored with the Corporate Award.
• Ella Foresti, student at Fowler High School, was honored with the Lindsey Fair Youth Encouragement Award
• Mia DeCarlo, Emma Drumm-O’Brien, and Ella Foresti all received scholarships.
The ceremony was closed with a benediction from former under-sheriff Warren Darby.
