“A place I want to visit”: County Executive McMahon asks Onondaga County students to help name the new aquarium
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – County Executive McMahon today announced that local students from across the county are being invited to help name Onondaga County’s brand-new aquarium.
At a press conference held at the Museum of Science and Technology, where he was joined by M.O.S.T. President Lauren Kochian, local superintendents and students from East Syracuse Minoa, McMahon said the new aquarium is one that will be a destination for families, school groups, and curious minds from across the region. It will also be a place where fun meets learning – a new and unique piece of STEM infrastructure and education.
Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon said, “We’re looking for names that are creative, memorable, and reflect what this aquarium is all about: exploration, discovery, nature, science, animals, and of course, water, from tiny streams to the expansive oceans!” McMahon continued, “We are looking for potential names that capture both the excitement of visiting and the meaningful learning that happens inside. The name could highlight our regional pride of having this impactful attraction, the mysteries of aquatic life, or just make someone smile and say, “That sounds like a place I want to visit.”
