County Executive McMahon Announces County Buildings to Light Up Blue in Honor of World Autism Month
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – County Executive J. Ryan McMahon, II today announced that on County facilities will light up blue in honor of World Autism Month through April 11th.
Every year the month of April is dedicated to raising awareness, growing acceptance and creating lasting change for people with Autism. In the United States, 1 in 36 children and 1 in 45 adults are on the autism spectrum. Autism Speaks, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting solutions for individuals with autism and their families, has been ‘lighting it up blue’ for 20 years and their mission is “Redefine Possible.” Learn more about Autism Speaks at autismspeaks.org.
County Executive McMahon said, “Onondaga County is proud to honor World Autism Month through this small gesture to drive awareness and help ‘redefine possible’ for people with autism.”
The Carnegie Building, Courthouse, Convention Center and the Main Atrium of Gallagher Hall will all
