County Executive Ryan McMahon & Mayor Ben Walsh Applaud County Probation and Syracuse Police for Successful Apprehension of Known Gang Member
Semare Manning was on Probation for 3rd Degree Burglary
SYRACUSE, NY – County Executive McMahon and Mayor Walsh today applauded the Onondaga County Probation Department and Syracuse Police Department for successfully apprehending probationer and known gang member Semare Manning. Manning has been identified as a member of the “1500” gang and was currently on probation for a 3rd degree burglary conviction.
During a search conducted today of Manning’s residence on the 500 block of Oneida Street, Onondaga County Probation with assistance of the Syracuse Police Department, discovered a loaded semiautomatic handgun and a 12-gauge shotgun in Manning’s bedroom. Additionally, multiple rounds of ammunition were located throughout the residence. Officers from the NYS Division of Parole were also contacted and assisted with the search. Drug paraphernalia was also discovered during the search.
“Keeping our community safe is a top priority of my administration and I am grateful to the Onondaga County Department of Probation for a job well done in successfully and peacefully apprehending this known gang member”, said County Executive McMahon. County Executive McMahon continued, “I am also grateful to the Syracuse Police Department for their partnership in this successful apprehension.”
Mayor Ben Walsh said, “It is through our strong partnership with Onondaga County and shared goal of a safe community, that this individual was successfully apprehended.” Mayor Walsh continued, “It will take all of us coming together as a community to truly address the crime in our city and I appreciate the efforts of Onondaga County Probation and the Syracuse Police Department for doing their part.”
Manning has been taken to the Onondaga County Justice Center where he is awaiting arraignment.
