County Executive Joanie Mahoney Requests Amphitheater Project Account Be Closed. Money Set Aside by Legislature Not Needed.
Amphitheater Operating Successfully; County only used half the money appropriated by the Legislature
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – County Executive Joanie Mahoney announced today that she has requested the
project account for the Amphitheater, created as part of the 2016 budget process, be closed. The
contingency project account included an allocation of $951,000 that will no longer be needed. The
request comes as the success of St. Joseph’s Health Amphitheater at Lakeview has demonstrated the
funds are not necessary.
“The success of the St. Joe’s Amp is undeniable. Hundreds of thousands of people are coming to our
community to see major artists play on the shore of Onondaga Lake,” said County Executive Joanie
Mahoney. “Thanks to our amazing success, this account and funds approved by the Onondaga County
Legislature are no longer necessary and I have asked that it be closed.”
