County Executive Joanie Mahoney Announces Hours of Operation, Website for Second Chance Canine Adoption Shelter

Syracuse, NY – County Executive Joanie Mahoney announced today that the Second Chance Canine
Adoption Shelter will be open to the public for adoptions every Wednesday from 4:00pm to 8:00pm
and every Saturday from 10:00am to 2:00pm starting Saturday, January 23, 2016.

County Executive Mahoney also announced that the public can visit the Second Chance website at
https://www.jamesvillesecondchance.com/ to view the dogs available for adoption, sign up to
volunteer, download an adoption application or donate to the shelter. They also are on Facebook at
www.facebook.com/secondchanceatjamesville.

“The Friends of Second Chance has done a tremendous job getting the Second Chance Shelter up and
running,” said County Executive Joanie Mahoney “From the dog training to the adoption process, I am
very grateful for their support on this project.”

“The Friends of Second Chance have worked diligently and passionately with Onondaga County
Corrections to create a one-of-a-kind shelter to address the high premature destruction rate of dogs in
our community,” said Board President Dave Sturgis. “We are grateful for the overwhelming support
from the community and County Executive Joanie Mahoney and are excited for folks to come find the
next member of their family.”
