Syracuse/Onondaga County Youth Bureau
The Syracuse/Onondaga County Youth Bureau’s established in 1968 is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supplement agencies that promote positive youth development activities. Positive youth development activities can attract youth ages 21 and under at risk of future involvement in illegal activities, risky behaviors, and/or truancy.
The youth Bureau is also responsible for coordinating the planning and the implementation of the Onondaga County Runaway and Homeless Youth Plan and relative activities of community services agencies.
Mission
Create and support a viable youth services system in Onondaga County which will assist youth in becoming productive, functional, and fully integrated members of society by increasing the opportunities/supports to young people.
Goal
All children successfully transition to adulthood by providing opportunities for youth to expand their full potential by developing skills to make positive contributions into the community life with one of the strategies being to fund agencies that promote positive youth development programming/activities while providing technical assistance and support to the agencies that tackles the following:
- Economic Security
- Physical and Emotional Health
- Education
- Citizenship/Civic Engagement
- Family
- Community
