School Threat Assessment

School Based Threat Assessment Countywide System

Onondaga County Trained schools and districts acrossthe County in Preventive Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management. The training, conducted by John Van Dreal Consultants LLC, renowned experts in Preventive Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management, draws from the Salem-Keizer Cascade Model. The system consists of Level 1 Teams at each school in Onondaga County and a County-Wide Level 2 team to support challenges that arise at the school level. The Level 2 Team will be engaged when a case at any of the schools reaches a certain threshold as identified in the assessment model.

This initiative aims to establish a county-wide system, ensuring consistency and reliability across all districts and in the community. Together, we will work towards creating safer learning environments for our students and a more secure future for our community.
