Metro ’78 Clarifier Project

This $52 million capital improvement project includes many items to upgrade the Metro facility expansion of 1978. Since May 2024, the project has advanced key improvements needed including waterproofing, lighting, and grating in the main gallery along with rehabilitation of our eight primary clarifiers and four secondary clarifiers. In June, a 46-inch diameter, 160-foot steam-cured liner was successfully installed between Secondary Tank No. 2 and the aeration tank. Contractor C.O. Falter is nearing completion of Primary Clarifiers Nos. 2 and 3, with work progressing steadily.  The “A” side work (primary clarifiers 1-4 and secondary clarifiers 1, 2) is expected to be completed 3rd quarter of 2026. The “B” side (primary clarifiers 5-8 and secondary clarifiers 3, 4) is forecast to conclude 2nd quarter of 2027.

Substation Replacement Project

This work involves complete replacement of the existing electrical substation with the new facility adjacent to the current one on the footprint of the existing carpenter shop. Construction is anticipated
to begin August. The project will span approximately four years and cost $14 million. Once complete, the upgraded substation will enhance system reliability and support long-term operational needs.

Pump Station, Odor Control & Waste Hauler Office

This combined project includes upgrades to the Harbor Brook Pump Station, implementation of new odor control systems, 01B level disinfection improvements, and rehabilitation of the existing Waste
Hauler office at Metro. These improvements will enhance system reliability, operational performance, and site conditions.
