Removing lead paint from a home can be very costly.  Fortunately, there are programs available to help with the cost of lead home repairs!  These programs pay for experts to safely make the needed repairs in older homes and rental properties.  Each program has specific eligibility requirements that must be met to receive assistance.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>HUD Lead Hazard Reduction Grant Program<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Applicants must meet U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) requirements to participate. If you meet the basic eligibility requirements below, download or <a href=\"https:\/\/onondaga.gov\/health-lead\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/197\/2025\/06\/LeadHazardGrantApp.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">complete an application here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You own or rent property built before 1978 AND<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your family or the family living in the rental property meets the income guidelines AND<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You have a child age six or younger who lives at or visits the property often<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Windows, Doors, and More Program<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Owners of properties with 2+ living units located in zip codes 13203, 13204, 13205, 13207 and 13208 may be eligible for assistance with replacing or repairing windows, doors, and other surfaces.  Applicants must have an inspection completed by the Onondaga County Health Department.
