One of 15 Grant Recipients Nationwide<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

The US Department of Housing and Urban Development today announced that Onondaga
\nCounty\u2019s Community Development Office has been awarded $3.4 million dollar in Lead Hazard
\nReduction Demonstration and Healthy Homes Grants.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are pleased to receive these grants from HUD to continue our efforts addressing lead in
\nhomes,\u201d said Onondaga County Executive Joanie Mahoney. \u201cOur Office of Community
\nDevelopment has been recognized by HUD as operating one of the best lead reduction
\nprograms in the country and being selected as one of only fifteen recipients in the country is
\ngreat news. Congratulations to our dedicated Community Development team and thank you to
\nHUD for awarding our exceptional efforts.\u201d<\/p>\n

Onondaga County will be awarded $3,000,000 in Lead Hazard Reduction Demonstration grant
\nprogram funding and $400,000 in Healthy Homes Supplemental funding. The County will
\naddress lead hazards in 195 housing units providing safer homes for low and very low-income
\nfamilies with children. The Lead Hazard Reduction Demonstration grant program will also
\nperform healthy homes interventions in 100 units. Onondaga County will collaborate with a
\ndiverse set of local partners to accomplish this work, Onondaga County Health Department
\nLead Poisoning Control Program, Child Care Solutions of CNY, and Southern Hills Preservation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
