The 45-foot Norway Spruce will be harvested from the Department of Water Environment Protection Henry Clay Campus<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

SYRACUSE, NY<\/strong> – Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon announced today that the annual Christmas Tree displayed in Clinton Square for the holiday season is being donated by Onondaga County and the Department of Water Environment Protection (WEP). The 45-foot Norway Spruce will be harvested from the WEP Henry Clay Campus by crews from the City of Syracuse with transportation of the tree donated by JPW Companies.<\/p>\n

County Executive McMahon said, \u201cOnondaga County is honored and proud to donate the annual Christmas Tree to the City of Syracuse this year. City residents are County residents and this is a perfect symbol of the many ways we can come together both now and in the future.\u201d McMahon continued, \u201cThank you especially to the hardworking employees at the Henry Clay campus of WEP for their help in securing the tree.\u201d<\/p>\n

Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh said, \u201cThe annual Christmas Tree in Clinton Square is a wonderful tradition and we are grateful to our partners in Onondaga County for donating this year\u2019s tree.\u201d Mayor Walsh continued, \u201cWe hope everyone from the community will come out this holiday season to enjoy the tree, Clinton Square and all that downtown and our city has to offer.\u201d<\/p>\n

Onondaga County Department of Water Environment Protection Commissioner Tom Rhoads said \u201cIt was great to be able to work with the City of Syracuse to give this tree to be displayed in Clinton Square for the holiday season, we hope that people all over the region will be able to view it downtown this year.\u201d<\/p>\n

The tree will be harvested on Friday, November 9th. Please be aware of previously announced road closures. While the tree is being transported, traffic will be impacted for the following route:<\/p>\n

Henry Clay Boulevard to Electronics Parkway, to Old Liverpool Road, to Interstate 81 South exiting at 23A to Clinton Square. South Salina Street, from West Genesee Street to Washington Street, will be closed to traffic on Friday afternoon, while the tree makes its approach to the Square and is hoisted into place.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
