SYRACUSE, N.Y. \u2013 County Executive Ryan McMahon and the Friends of the Rosamond Gifford Zoo
today announced the execution of a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), reaffirming a decades-long partnership that has helped position the Rosamond Gifford Zoo as one of Central New York\u2019s most valued community institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The signed agreement represents a strong, mutually beneficial deal for both the Friends organization and county taxpayers. The MOU modernizes roles and expectations, brings added transparency and accountability, and provides a clear framework for collaboration as the Zoo moves into an exciting new era of growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Rosamond Gifford Zoo thrives because of the strong partnership between Onondaga County and the Friends organization,\u201d said County Executive McMahon. \u201cThis MOU ensures that we continue building on that success in a way that protects taxpayers, strengthens operations, and supports the many exciting projects planned for the Zoo\u2019s future.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Leaders from the Friends of the Zoo echoed that enthusiasm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both organizations highlighted that the timing of the new MOU comes as the Zoo prepares for several major enhancements, including exhibits, guest experience upgrades, and expanded conservation and education initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
