County Executive McMahon Announces New Round of Main Street Investments in the Village of North Syracuse
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Onondaga County Executive J. Ryan McMahon, II today announced three new awards through its Main Street Initiative, reinforcing the County’s commitment to helping small businesses revitalize commercial corridors, stimulate local economic growth, and enhance the character of traditional main street districts. The new projects — located along North and South Main Street in the Village of North Syracuse — represent continued momentum for the program and demonstrate the tangible improvements it is bringing to community-facing business districts.
The latest grant recipients include:
Big Dip, 216 N. Main Street
- Project improvements include new windows, fresh paint, and fence staining.
- Total project investment: $25,753.96
- County Grant: $19,315.47
- Property Owner match: $6,438.49 (25%)
Karp Law Office, 428 S. Main Street
- Improvements include window treatments, new siding, brick repairs and painting, and new overhangs.
- Total project investment: $78,125.00
- County Grant: $58,312.50
- Property Owner match: $19,812.50 (25%
Twin Trees III, 310 N. Main Street
- Upgrades include new signage and improved dumpster enclosures.
- Total project investment: $63,732.41
- County Grant: $47,799.31
- Property Owner match: $15,933.10 (25%)
These awards reflect the Main Street Initiative’s mission: supporting targeted façade, accessibility, and
streetscape enhancements that strengthen commercial activity and preserve the walkable, small-business character of Onondaga County’s traditional business districts.
“Main Streets are the heart and soul of our communities,” said County Executive McMahon. “When we invest in these corridors, we’re investing in the small businesses that anchor our neighborhoods, the walkability and safety of our streets, and the long-term economic vitality of Onondaga County. The continued success of the Main Street Initiative shows what can happen when local partners work together to strengthen shared community spaces.”

Since its launch, the Main Street Initiative has helped local businesses invest in critical improvements such as façade renovations, energy efficient windows and doors, accessibility upgrades, signage, lighting, and structural repairs. These enhancements support public safety, increase foot traffic, and reinforce the economic resilience of commercial districts across the County.
The addition of Big Dip, Karp Law Office, and Twin Trees III to the growing list of awardees demonstrates the demand for revitalization support and the positive impact the program continues to make.
