County Executive McMahon Announces Bars & Restaurants in Onondaga County Can Open Starting at 6 A.M. to Celebrate the Men’s Ice Hockey Olympic Gold Medal Game
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon today announced that all bars and restaurants in Onondaga County can open starting at 6 A.M. on Sunday, February 22nd to celebrate that U.S.A. Men’s Hockey Team playing for Gold in the Winter Olympics.
Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon said, “As the entire country prepares to watch in support of our U.S.A. Men’s Hockey Team as they prepare to take on Canada tomorrow, we know that many of our neighbors will want to gather at their favorite local establishment to root on the red, white and blue! Thanks to the order issued by Governor Hochul, I am happy to announce that any bar and restaurant in Onondaga County can now open early tomorrow in honor of this historic moment.” McMahon continued, “Let’s go U.S.A.!”
Governor Hochul announced earlier this evening that she has directed the New York State
Liquor Authority to suspend enforcement with respect to alcohol service hours which allows the
County Executive to authorize local bars and restaurants to open as early as 6 A.M.
The U.S.A. Men’s Hockey Team game against Canada is scheduled to start at 8:10 A.M.
