County Executive McMahon Announces Zoo Director Ted Fox to Retire at End of May
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – County Executive J. Ryan McMahon, II today announced that Zoo Director Ted Fox will retire on May 30th after an extraordinary career that spanned 34 years dedicated to wildlife, conservation, education and the growth of the County’s Rosamond Gifford Zoo.
Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon said, “As Ted enters retirement, he does so with the community’s deep appreciation and gratitude for his unwavering dedication to the Rosamond Gifford Zoo.” McMahon continued, “While Ted’s retirement is undoubtedly a bittersweet moment, we are forever grateful for the legacy and impact of Ted has had on our staff, visitors and the countless animals that have called the Rosamond Gifford Zoo home.”
Ted’s last day will be May 30th, 2025, with a nationwide search commencing in the coming weeks for a new zoo director.
