County Executive Ryan McMahon Announces Independent Panel to Review Comptroller Applicants

Decision to be made by December 31st

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – County Executive J. Ryan McMahon, II announced today a three-person independent panel to review the applications and resumes submitted by those interested in being appointed Onondaga County Comptroller. A vacancy is being created due to the election of the current Comptroller, Robert Antonacci, to the New York State Senate.

The panel will consist of former Deputy Onondaga County Executive Ed Kochian, current Deputy Comptroller James Maturo and President of C.R. Fletcher Associates, Carol Fletcher.

County Executive McMahon said, “The taxpayers of Onondaga County deserve a fair and transparent process in selecting their next Comptroller. I am grateful that Carol, Ed and Jim have all agreed to serve on the panel and review the applications we have received to ensure that the next Comptroller is as competent, qualified and ready to lead the office on day one.”

Carol Fletcher has been in the recruiting field since 1980 specializing in the recruitment and placement of Accounting and Financial professionals on a local, regional and national basis. Ed Kochian served as Deputy Onondaga County Executive for almost thirty years and served under three County Executive’s. James Maturo joined the Comptroller’s Office in 1983 and has risen through the ranks to become Deputy County Comptroller where he has served under three Comptroller’s.

The panel will begin meeting in the next week with a recommendation to be made no later than December 31st.
