Comptroller Loses, After $400,000 of Taxpayer Funds Wasted, Judge Dismisses Case Against County Executive
Judge Spencer Luddington dismissed Onondaga County Comptroller Bob Antonacci’s frivolous
lawsuit against the County Executive today. The judge ruled that the Legislature’s action last
year was in fact legal and that the Personnel Commissioner was correct in fixing county records
after the Comptroller improperly tampered with the payroll system.
“This Comptroller makes no bones about his opinion of me and has used his office frequently to
promote his own political agenda,” said Onondaga County Executive Joanie Mahoney. “Up until
now it has been no more than a nuisance, however, this time he owes the taxpayers an
apology. He filed this frivolous lawsuit in an effort to publically attack the Legislature for not
giving him a raise and to appease the special interests he works for by attacking me in the
press. Ten months and over $400,000 later he got the same answer he received from the Law
Department in the first place. His campaign slogan was Antonacci for Accountability and he
should be held accountable for wasting all this time and money using his public office to
promote his own political agenda.”
