Travel Advisory
HAZARDOUS ROAD CONDITIONS
County Executive Joanie Mahoney has issued an Onondaga County Travel Advisory for
Tuesday February 16th effective immediately and extending until 6am Wednesday February
17th.
This travel advisory does not restrict travel. It is a warning to motorists that hazardous
driving conditions may exist. A combination of rain, snow, and ice has created hazardous
travel conditions throughout the county. As rain transitions to snow, roads will become
hazardous and the potential for localized flooding exists.
There are reported areas of standing water in roadways due to blocked drains. Temperatures
remaining around freezing will continue to hamper travel conditions through the evening
commute.
Please monitor local forecasts and conditions as the impact varies depending on location.
Please pay attention for future notices in case the situation worsens.
Precautionary/preparedness actions
The continued precipitation will create severe winter weather conditions and increase the
chances of pooling water on roadways.
For the safety of all residents, the general public is encouraged to consider the need to be on
the roads during the above time frame and to use extreme caution while traveling in or
around Onondaga County. If you must travel, allow additional time to reach your
destination. Travel at reduced speeds to allow for increased reaction time.
